Call me...minion
Well, today I feel was a productive day...it's not very often I get time that is kid free but E went to her nannie and pas for the afternoon, I still had AJ but she kindly had a 3 and a half/4 hour sleep. I moved around furniture and vacuumed and mopped under it all, I cleaned out E's cupboard, packed away some stuff, did some washing, cleaned out AJ's room and check over some of my sister-in-laws work. And now I'm about to make dinner. If only I could get paid for this type of stuff I would be rich hahaha.
Let me know if you need anything done (but I may start charging hahaha)
P.S. the house settles Monday...yay!

It's happening...
Wow, so my last post was about 5 months ago...ooops and it was about purchasing our new property. Forgot to update you all on our house we had to put on the market but it sold....within 2 weeks which was great. We got a quick settlement and therefore have been living at N's brothers house waiting for the new place to settle. And so, the time has come to start packing again because we move in in less then a month. YAY.
I am actually a little excited and eager to get to work, cleaning things up! However N has exposed the fact that the new place has an outhouse toilet - awesome. When we first looked at the 'house' (it's actually technically a cottage - another awesome...) N said it was bad so I was expecting something that was about to be condemned. I was pleasantly surprised when it wasn't that bad so I took a quick look though and of course didn't not take any notice of a toilet or a lack there of inside...to tell you the truth I don't even remember a bathroom with a shower ect. but N assures me there was defiantly one of those...inside. It has just snuck up on me, I can't believe it's time for the next exciting chapter of our lives to start - it's going to be a jam packed month - can't wait.
Blog again soon...I hope xoxo

Exciting Times Ahead...
I guess now is a better time then any to let you all know we put an offer on a property...and it was accepted...so we're moving...
The photographer came last night to take photos of our house in time for our open for inspection THIS Saturday...so life has been slightly hectic and we have been feeling like were living on the block (the renovation tv show)...
The new land will be great involving many adventures I'm sure however the house leaves much to be desired and will be a challenge in itself till we can afford to rebuild.
Wish us luck in selling our house ASAP, I can't keep this house clean for very long hahaha

A future
A good friend of mine was in a car accident a little while ago now. It was pretty bad, going 100kms an hour and rolled the car 5 times...all three in the car walked away. Looking at the car I dont know how they survived...with hardly a scratch...
You have to remember what is important at the end of the day...sometimes you have to remind the people around you how much they mean to you. I would hate for someone important to me leave this world without knowing they mean so much.
It has made N and I get off our butts and finally write our will, I know but better later then never right?

It takes a village!?!
Its been a while, but I have been extremely busy with two kids. They are absolutely beautiful and amaze me everyday. E is just the sweetest (most of the time) which makes me love her more and more everyday and AJ is a clever little cookie which makes me feel as though I may actually be doing an ok job (shes my reassurance hahaha).
Life has changed a lot and got me thinking about how much pressure we put on ourselves as mothers to do absolutely everything. Why are we no longer able to ask for help? Its like society makes us feel inferior if we need a little help every now and again.
Why do we put all this pressure on our selves feeling as though we have to raise our children alone? What ever happened to 'it takes a village a raise a child'?
A friend was over the other day - I was in the toilet with the two girls singing and reading books to try and get my friends daughter to do wees on the toilet (the joys of starting toilet training, E was showing her friend how its done hahaha) and my friend cleaned up the toys the girls had been playing with, as easy as that and I had a clean house again...
I know how it feels to not be able to ask those around you for help but I'm sure there is someone you can...maybe a best friend? And when you feel up to it don't forget your friends may feel the same about not asking for help when they really need it so take the time to help without them asking...invite them for coffee and help toilet train their kids...don't just sit and chat...think of something that might help raising kids easier! Being a mum can be challenging, overwhelming, disheartening, and lonely...everyone needs a little help sometimes and sometimes it takes a village!

Baby on the Lounge Room Floor
Wednesday June 20th 2012 was quite an eventful day to say the least! I was up at 2am attending to my daughter E when I 'peed' my pants (my waters broke). I cleaned myself up and called the hospital, they wanted me to come in to make sure they had actually broken. I checked my bags to make sure everything I wanted was still in there and we sent E off to her Nana's.
At around 4am it was confirmed my waters had broken and my contractions had actually begun (finally). With contractions being 20ish minutes apart the nurse suggested we go home and wait it out (in hinds sight they really should have checked to see if I was dilated as I thought I had been in pre-labour for about 5 days, I may have not been dilated much at all, but I also could have been considering). The nurse even booked me in to be induced incase things hadn't progressed by the Friday (which I was very skeptical about....E came within 12 hours of my waters breaking and babies are meant to come quicker arnt they?). Anyway, so we got home, my besty, C, who I wanted there for the birth was waiting for us and I managed a shower, a banana, even some bacon and eggs (bad move, I was burping eggs for days), tidied the house and watched some tv (the netball was on).
My contractions, at about 8am, became super intense, too much for me to handle and the decision was made to call the hospital and tell them we were coming back, they hesitantly agreed. I was convinced I would 'walk' in the door and demand an epidural, I forgot how bad it had been and thought if it was going to go on for hours like it did with E I wouldn't be able to handle it.
On all fours, I went to get up and instantly had the urge to push. Thinking it was way too early to push I tried not to, hoping it would pass so I could make it to at least the car and hopefully the hospital. It didn't pass! C and N both thought the same thing until I asked them to have a look. I remember C saying she could see hair lol. The ambulance was immediately called in a slight panicked state. I defiantly feel sorry for those people on the other end of the line, I do remember yelling, at who I'm sure was a very nice bloke, profanities only to be repeated in a similar situation, when he told me I had roll over and lay on my back; you try going from all fours to your back while being pregnant, then add contractions and the urge to push in there. In the end N and C just pushed me over (funny now). We had the green light to start pushing from the guy on the line. I remember C calling out (trying to be motivational) "woop woop I see a head", three pushes later, C caught my new baby girl (I was surprised since I was convinced I was having a boy). It takes a second for them to cry, seems like a very long second, but as soon as you hear a wail its defiantly comforting! About a minute after that two paramedics walked in, slightly disheartened they missed the birth (would have been their first). C went to hand bubs over to them forgetting we were still attached, that was an odd feeling. The cord was clipped and cut by N, making it time to push out the placenta.
The calls were made to close family and friends and no one believed I had my baby on the lounge room floor, an appatent sick joke, hahaha.
As quick as it all progressed it was over again. I fed my new girl, got dressed and walked down the front stairs into the ambulance. The towels and C's clothes were placed in a bath of water with the door closed for N to deal with later, mmmm I bet they smelt beautiful about 14 hours later.
After arriving at the hospital I was wheeled to the birthing suite to make sure everything was ok and check for taring. The nurses were a little worried I might have retained some membrane and therefore decided to give me the injection that is usually used to help push out the placenta. The nurses kindly gave me some gas to reduce the severity of the pain since I was getting stitches as well.
The gas was great! I tried it while in labour with E but I think my contractions were too bad and I couldn't get it in quick enough and therefore it had minimal effect. This time I wasn't in pain and could get all of that gas in. I don't know if its just the way gas makes you feel but I remember my face going a little tingly and at the time I thought I had passed out. I came to remember hearing people talking and music on the radio (sounded like they were all in slow motion, quite amusing at the time). I told the nurses its like a disco, the music sounded techno and of course I'm laying on the bed, getting stitches, 'dancing' and saying 'ince ince ince ince', the nurses were laughing (rude hahaha). I also remember asking C if she had tried the gas (since she is a nurse and thought they might have so they know what it feels like), she replied with a no, which I then suggested she try some... "its gooooooooooood". For some reason I got a male American accent (again quite amusing), basically the opposite effects of helium. If you get offered the gas, go for it, it is a lot of fun!
My girl was weighed and measured, poked and prodded. She was a wopping 10lbs 10oz, about 4.8kgs (slightly smaller then E) and 53cms long. Nice big girl :).
We have nicknamed her AJ but according to E its 'bubbles'.
We also made our local newspaper

Motherhood
Things can be hard.
I pretty much havn't completed anything in my life (as my dad kindly pointed out to me the other day). I think the reason for this is because I like to be the best and if I'm not the best, I just give up.
Since being a mother, sadly I have felt the same way. I feel I'm either not doing a good enough job or someone could do better. Then I look at my baby girl and I don't want anyone else doing my job.
In life there is probably someone who can always do something better then you but as Elbert Hubbard has stated "there is no failure except in no longer trying. There is no defeat except from within, no really insurmountable barrier save our own inherent weakness of purpose."
I have to come to terms with the fact that I can only do the best I can do!
Sometimes its hard to cope. I hope I'm not the only one, and it may be because I'm pregnant and emotional, but sometimes I need time out. I feel like a child but I lay on my bed and just cry. It's just the way I'm coping with things lately.
E is very stubborn and strong willed, she loves to ignore me and do what ever she wants. I get sick of telling her no to the same thing fifty times a day, and even while she is doing something I don't want her to, I have to say no at least 5 times and even then she isn't listening/ignores me. E seems to need to touch everything she isn't meant to. I don't really have places up high to put things in the house where she cant get to them so she needs to learn just not to touch!?!
I think E just loves to make my life difficult...
A nappy change and a clothes change is another difficult part of my day. As I said she is stubborn. How do you make someone do something you want them to? Generally I can get her nappy off, (if she has actually comes to me, which can be a challenge in its self) however cleaning her bot and trying to get another back on is another story (kicking and rolling/getting up and going limp so I cant stand her up to pull up her pants). I don't want her to just get away with these things, 'you do what mum says' right?

I'm torn
I really want to get a necklace with something to do with the kids on it as a charm...
So I was thinking either the boy/girl birthstone charms (Image 1)
Or the oval charms with their names on them (Image 2)...help me decide

Down Syndrome Test
I don't get it.
I understand that the test gives you a probability of your child having down syndrome but its not a positive or negative.
Why have the down syndrome testing? The website babycentre state that people have the test because down syndrome is the most common chromosomal abnormality to result in a live birth and can have a major impact on a family.
I had the test done not long ago because it seems its just what you do when your pregnant but even if my chances were 1:20 I still wouldn't terminate the pregnancy. The child still maybe born without the syndrome. My results were more like 1:33,000 but my child may well be born with down syndrome so whats the point? I still cant answer why?

Can I Study and Look After Kids?
I would love to start studying again but I'm worried I won't find the time with looking after E and now with another one on the way. Should I feel bad if I have to get her looked after (by family) to get some time to study?
The course I want to do is online and takes two years part time, which I think is pretty reasonable considering my situation but I don't want to waste money when I cant find time to study and get assignments handed in on time.
Do you think I'll be able to cope with a toddler, a newborn, the house and study?

What? 18 Months?
Well how time flies.
E is 18 months old today. Feels like only last week I was organising her first birthday. This last 6 months has gone in the blink of an eye. So much has changed, E has changed. She seems so much older but every day I wonder where my baby has gone. She knows so many words and what I'm talking about which is great but scary at the same time. I can ask her to go get something or pick something up for me and she does its very odd! She surprises me everyday.
Of course we have hard and frustrating days but I wouldn't change it for the world. She is the most amazing, charismatic and beautiful child I know.
I love her to bits!

My Christmas Day 2011
Christmas is over, for another year.
Its always a busy day filled with family, good food and great gifts (as always).
The day started at N's parents house with a yummy breakfast (bacon, eggs and croissants) and presents, so many presents, E definitely got spoilt with presents from her nan and pa, Auntie S and Uncle A.
It was then time to head to my parents - we take it in turns with who we spend lunch with, this year it was my parents with my sister, her hubby and my beautiful niece. My niece just couldn't wait to her open presents under the amazing tree my parents had decorated, its all just too tempting. Again E got extremely spoilt from her other nan and pa, Aunty M, Uncle D and Cuz R! Everything is too temping about Christmas Day, for the kids its the presents, for the adults its eating and drinking too much, speaking of which once the presents were opened, our energy levels were low, definitely time for lunch!
We had all the trimmings - ham, turkey and pork - cauliflower and broccoli with cheese sauce, peas, beans and roasted potato. Mmmmmm bring on those extra calories! My mums sweets are the best though, nothing but the best - Lindt Lindor chocolates, fresh home-made ice cream and pavlova. Could not have been any more full, I thought I was going to roll home or to the beach since that's where we were heading.
We hit the road and hit with the thunderstorm and hail which was reported all around Melbourne. The hail we got was no where near as exciting as other reports, ours was about the size of marbles not even photo worthy however half way to the beach it just stopped raining, I was sure it was following us!
But it never came.
N and I finished the night off by watch FastFive (which he got from Santa) :)
Could not have asked for a better day!

This Sucks!
What was I thinking?
Yes, I'm pregnant again (if you didn't know already), as happy as I am, right now, I'm so not!
Seriously, what was I thinking?
The happiness of my current family status clearly clouded my judgement!
I do remember now (bit too late) how much a hated being pregnant with E.
I knew I was pregnant this time when I 'needed' sugar. Great, lets pile that weight on. In stead of snacking like I did with E I'm trying to make a meal, even if I feel sick. I'm also hoping this tiredness and nausea will cease soon! Really soon!
The hair on my head is falling out and the hair everywhere else....lets just say is on steroids! Wooohooo!!
The head aches, the back aches and the aches in general...this is AWESOME...

Been A While
It has been too many months to count since my last post.
Its not something I'm proud of but I have been a busy busy girl. ;)
E has been keeping me a busy girl.
Be warned mums, as soon as they start walking any form of relaxation is totally over.
It's like a switch, 'hey I can walk now' 'oh hey look what I can do - everything' (From opening cupboards and doors to putting her (and my) shoes on to talking more to agreeing/disagreeing with what ever you say, the list goes on)
The transformation feels over night! I defiantly don't have a bubba anymore :( which is sad but on the other hand E has so much more personality and she is just absolutely beautiful! She is a big sweety and very funny. You mums/parents have so much to look forward to as frustrating as it can be!

Judgement Day
The one thing I hate about being a parent is the feeling of being judged ALL the time. From how clean/dirty the house is, to what E is eating, what E is wearing, what I wear or look like, my plan of attack towards discipline, what I let E do (ie. things she can and cant touch), and what I do with my 'alone time' (if I get any). But then again I feel people are judging me because I'd like to take some 'alone time' every now and again (so I don't take it) but I'm allowed to aren't I?
Ahhhh then there is not only the feeling of being judged but that look that I'm apparently doing something wrong...
Of course I want whats best for my child and maybe since I don't like being judged its making me a better parent...but who knows...I just put more and more pressure on myself.

Breastfeeding Can Be Tough
Can be tough? Is tough!
It can be great being able to breastfeed but it can also be tough. From the cracked nipples, to thrush, to mastitis, to your bubba biting you, to low flow. From feeling like Pamela Anderson to a Nana with boobs to your ankles. I had it all.
I breast fed E til she was about 8 and a half months old, I ended up stopping since she started biting me as soon as I put her on, man does that hurt when they have teeth!
Of course I started with cracked nipples as everyone does, babies suck hard when they are hungry. N was astounded, when trying to settle E while I got ready to feed, he put his little finger in her mouth, he thought she was going to suck off his finger nail. "Imagine that on your nipple" I'd say. My cracked nipples healed and it became a pleasurable and bonding experience between E and I.
A few weeks later I then got thrush however not knowing what it was. It felt like someone was scratching my boob from the inside out, extremely painful, I just thought it was something 'normal'. I just waited til I saw my maternal health nurse as I had an appointment with her anyway for a normal check-up on E. It ended up being about 5 days before I saw anyone, I was in agony. I had to get drops for E and cream for my nipples. I think I used it for about a month worried it would come back (you have to use it a week after the pain has gone to make sure its all cleared up), then back to that pleasurable and bonding experience.
E was just over 6 months old when I woke up at about 1am shivering uncontrollably. I was shivering that badly I woke up N, he doesn't even wake up to E crying anymore. He just thought I was being silly and told me to go back to sleep. Got to 2am and I was still shivering, N tried calling C (my best friend who is a nurse) there was no answer so he called Nurse On Call 1300 60 60 24, she said I probably had mastitis and needed to see a doctor in the next 4 hours. N went and got E from her room and tried to get her to feed, she was too asleep so we just left. There were only about 2 people in the emergency room and got through pretty quickly. I got poked and prodded for blood tests and a drip (since my temp was so high). They confirmed mastitis and gave me antibiotics. I thought thrush was bad...this was nasty.
I got discharged from the hospital about 2 in the afternoon and was still really bad, went to my local doctors about 6pm. They injected my bottom with who knows what to try and help with my temp ect. I had to go back the few days after Christmas to get the same injection which they mix with a local anesthetic so it doesn't hurt so much (still hurt like hell though). Was getting a little better and went to the beach for new years, not that I was up for partying. I finished my antibiotics and thought it was all done with.
About 2 days later N was home to pull down our shed to make way for the new one (which still isn't up) and E and I were playing outside watching daddy work. I started getting hot again (thinking because it was summer) and sharp pains in my boob (thinking it was just something to do with feeding because of what I had just been through). Half an hour later decided something wasn't right and tried calling the doctor again, there were no openings so I just left it. N realised I was in a lot of pain and called them him self, 'demamded' for us to come down and get seen. I ended up with another week of injections and 4 more weeks of antibiotics (stronger ones).
Everyone couldn't understand why I got mastitis so late (usually you get it when your milk comes in and bubs isn't feeding enough). E was going through what I thought was a growth spurt, she wasn't sleeping through the night anymore. Each time she woke through the night which ended up being 2 hourly, I was feeding her. I let it go on for a month and decided a growth spurt doesn't go that long and started settling her instead of feeding her. Did that for 2 nights and she was back to sleeping through as was I, however my milk was still producing and basically becoming stagnant and going off, hence the mastitis. Because of the infection you feel like your boob is on fire, like you have been sun burnt really really badly. When feeding it hurt similar to thrush because of the inflamed milk ducts. Not pleasant at all! After the week and weeks of antibiotics it was finally done with.
I never had 'high' flow, could never 'shoot' someone across the room, not even E's face while trying to latch on. I think this is why I was more relaxed when it came to her sleeping through more and more, big mistake.
N has decided I just don't like having to do anything for Christmas (since it was now Christmas Eve and sick as a dog). Last year I was pregnant and had bad all day morning sickness, apparently 9 months was just too long to only get out of 1 day so I had decided to get mastitis, it wouldn't be such a commitment (according to N), hahaha. Wonder what the excuse will be this year...
E then started biting me. When babies do that its usually because they have had enough and are bored however when E was biting me it was as soon as she latched on. I got told to yell "ouch" to give bubs a fright with hope they wont do it again however this did not happen. I would latch E back on and she would bite again. I then got told to do the "ouch" and pop her on the floor for a few minuets as kind of like a punishment. Again didn't help, so for me, that was it.
It is now about 3 months since I have stopped feeding and I now have the pleasure of more and more excess skin every day. 'The joys' of feeding...

Blog Hop - Mel the Modern Day Melbourne Mum
For this blog hop feature I have chosen my sisters blog, Mel the Modern Day Melbourne Mum.
My sister and her husband have been through a lot but have come out the other side better people. Reading Mel's blog I am sure you will find out the past and present challenges they have faced and hopefully learn a thing or two.
My sister is the wife of AFL's ex-demon player, Daniel Ward, which I am sure has had challengers in itself. Mel and Daniel have a beautiful daughter together who I adore and love spending time with.
Mel is a great mum but can also juggle work and study within her stride. She really makes it all seem so easy.
Her blog is definitely worth a follow! I always cant wait for her next blog post. Visit her blog here.
And don't forget to also visit my blog hop and link up your blog to become a feature.
